We design with fabrication, assembly and operation in mind.

For hull structures we work through every design phase, from concept development to production drawings. We also design outfitting and ship systems where the project requires them.

You receive technical documents for planning, class approval and production.

Buildable from the start

Fabrication is considered –from the first line.

Our shipbuilding engineering accounts for the requirements of classification societies, shipyards and fabrication from the start of the design process.

We assess fabrication, transport and assembly requirements at an early stage. We produce the documents for class approval and yard production.

Services

From concept to production drawing

For hull structures we manage projects from concept design through to workshop drawings. Depending on the task, we take on individual design packages or larger parts of the ship design.

01 · Concept

Concept design

We lay the groundwork for the rest of the vessel development: the design basis, general arrangement plans, lines plans, midship sections and the initial arrangement of tanks, the engine room and blocks.

Where it helps, we compare variants and set out their effects on the design and the engineering effort.

02 · Concept

Basic Design

In basic design we turn the concept into a detailed 3D model: general arrangement plans, structural drawings and tank plans, strength calculations and the design documents for the engine room and cargo areas.

This documentation is the basis for review by classification societies.

03 · Concept

Detail and hull production design

We define materials, profiles and connections, and we use these to produce workshop drawings, parts lists, nesting plans and panel and welding-line data.

We generate them from the 3D model directly for production planning at the yard.

04 · Concept

Construction method, transport and scaffolding

We look at transport, lifting and assembly from the design phase onwards. We plan the build sequence for blocks and sections and plan the transport and lifting operations.

We calculate the load points, size the lifting gear and lashings.

05 · Concept

Engineering tools

We produce most of our design work using AVEVA Marine and AVEVA E3D. Where the project requires it, we also use CATIA or Siemens NX.

Our naval architects and structural engineers run the structural and strength calculations themselves, using software including ANSYS, RFEM and RSTAB.

06 · Concept

The interface between planning and fabrication

We produce technical documents from the initial project phase through to workshop drawings and take the requirements of class, shipyards and fabrication into account.

We deliver approval documents and fabrication drawings.

Process

Four steps to the documentation.

  1. Enquiry & briefing

You tell us the ship type, class, yard and schedule. We clarify the scope of work.

  2. Concept & calculation

We set the design basis and calculate stability and strength.

  3. Design

We build the 3D model and design in accordance with the class rules in AVEVA Marine and AVEVA E3D.

  4. Production documents

You receive workshop drawings that the yard can use directly for fabrication.

FAQ

What our clientsask us.

Concept design, basic design, detail design and hull production design. You can involve us from the concept stage or commission us for individual phases.

Yes. We design to the class rules and produce approval and class drawings. We provide the associated naval architecture work and strength calculations.

We mainly use AVEVA Marine and AVEVA E3D. Where the project requires it, we also work with CATIA or Siemens NX.

Cargo ships, cruise vessels and product tankers – including the structural design of complete vessels.

Yes. We plan the build sequence and supply the supporting strength calculations for transport, lashing and scaffolding.

We agree the drawing scope, the applicable class rules and the review steps at the start. We incorporate review comments into the model and the drawings and record each change.
